MAQ says its triple frequency sonar is helping Albacore and Benito fishermen detect individual fish at 400m with its 90KHz transducer while Bigeye and Yellowfin fishermen are detecting schools at 1,500m and 4,000m with the 45KHz and 22KHz transducers respectively.
It said the unique transducer switch-over system allows the fisherman to select any two of three operating frequency transducers to use the optimum frequency for the situation at hand. Its pencil vertical beams ensure excellent near surface detection and tracking using natural surface clutter rejection, a statement said.
It says its software it very stable and its high-powered beam stabilisation system ensures maximum detection distances and uninterrupted target tracking in all sea-state conditions.
It has in development a new transducer which it says will give detection distances of 10 KM.
It also says that MAQ_s high-speed electric hoists offer protection against cable strikes with retraction speeds of eight seconds per metre.
