“All contracts are important, but this contract marks a new confirmation of our strong position in the pelagic market”, said General Manager, Monrad Hide at Rolls-Royce.
The new design, type NVC-355, has been developed in close co-operation with the owner in the Faroe Islands.
In addition to the NVC-Design, Rolls-Royce is to deliver propulsion plant, auxiliary engine, winches, automation system, thrusters, rudder and steering gear for the vessel, forming an integrated design and equipment delivery. The contract value for Rolls-Royce is about NOK 54 million and the total building price for the vessel is around DKK 250 million.
The design is optimised for production on board with a freezing capacity of more than 200 tonnes of herring filet per 24 hours. All of the waste is utilised in a separate fishmeal factory. The hullform is designed to achieve good sea characteristics, and limiting the noise onboard the vessel has been an important factor, giving a better working environment and comfort for the crew.
The 83.5m long vessel is arranged with RSW hold capacity of 1.230m3 and two freezing holds optimised for pallets with a capacity of 2,500m3.
Accommodation is arranged for 30 people, and the newbuilding will be delivered with the most modern electronics, fish-finding and communication equipment.
The vessel is arranged for fishing herring, mackerel, capelin and blue whiting and is going to be equipped with separate deck equipment for trawling and for purse seining. It will operate mainly on the fishing grounds around the Faroe Islands, the North Sea, the Atlantic Ocean as well as the maritime zones around Iceland and the Barents Sea.
The owner, Hvalnes P/f, currently owns two vessels, “Nordborg” and “Christian i Grotinum”. The new vessel built in Chile will replace the existing “Nordborg”.
