North Star Ice Equipment has announced the introduction of the company’s new Elite line of stainless steel flake ice makers.
The product is designed to address market demand for ice makers that will meet the safety and sanitation standards of the worldwide food processing industry.
“Regulations in most countries consider the ice used in food processing as an ingredient; therefore the ice making equipment must meet the same requirements as any other piece of food processing machinery,” explained Tom Crawford, Vice President of Sales and Marketing for North Star. In general, this means the materials used in the processing equipment must be smooth, corrosion resistant, non-toxic, stable and non-absorbent under use conditions. They also should not impart odour, colour or taste, nor contribute to the adulteration of the food. Stainless steel has long been considered the first and best choice to meet these requirements.
The North Star Elite Ice Maker features a solid stainless steel evaporator on all four Elite models. This stainless steel freezing surface will not contaminate food because it will not chip, peel, crack, pit or rust, as chrome plated surfaces are known to do.
In addition to the evaporator, the North Star Elite also features 22 standard stainless steel components.
“We have received great market interest in our Elite stainless steel ice maker, particularly among our food processing clients,” said Crawford. “They are happy to know that they have an ice making option that will address the increased scrutiny they are receiving from regulatory agencies on food safety and sanitation practices.”
North Star Elite flake ice makers are available in four models ranging from 11 to 41 tons of flake ice per day. Models can be combined for greater capacity requirements. All North Star Elite ice makers are backed by a lifetime warranty on the evaporator and North Star’s performance guarantee.
