The new HD850 series from WESMAR accomplishes the tough challenge of seeing fish close to the bottom after a successful performance aboard the F/V, American Triumph.

The HD850 sonar screen

Captains of the vessel found the sonar to be very successful at finding fish and keeping them on screen during rough days.

“The WESMAR HD850 is working well, marking fish down 320 fathoms on 1200m range,” said Captain Eric of the American Triumph. Captain Sandy also adds, “The WESMAR HD850 is marking extremely well. Active stabilization consistently keeps the fish on the screen.”

The new HD850 gives more information at greater clarity and deeper depths. The new trawlscan mode on the HD850 shows 30% more fishable area than traditional sonar systems by keeping the sound beam out front. Features of the exciting system include active stabilization, a digital link, and searchlight advantage.

Active stabilization

The stabilization gyro, located in the soundome, makes corrections in the exact direction the transducer is looking, and as a result, keeps the sound beam on target.

Digital link

Long interconnect cable runs are subject to noise and low sonar performance, a problem WESMAR has solved with a new digital link between the sonar transducer and the computer console in the wheelhouse. The digital link in the HD850 operates noise free for maximum sonar performance.

Searchlight advantage

No sonar has better directivity than WESMAR engineered transducers. One hundred per cent of the transducer surface area points in the direction of the fish in a sharp, narrow beam. Dispersed fish and previously hard to mark fish are detected, clutter free.
