CES has unveiled its new Blizzard-LT linear freezing tunnel, which the company claims is “probably the most efficient and hygienic tunnel in the world”.

According to the equipment manufacturer, the freezing tunnel is capable of processing all kinds of food products, whether the products are packed or unpacked.
The vertical airflow together with ultra-low temperatures (up to -65°C) ensure a quick cooling and freezing process with a minimum of weight loss of the product. This vertical airflow was developed together with the University of Leuven, Belgium.
This unit arrives fully assembled or can be shipped partially assembled (it has a modular design - each module length is 2,500mm) and requires a minimum of time for installation.
The CES Mechanical Tunnel is fully PLC controlled (PLC Siemens S7 with touch panel). Its complete stainless steel structure includes a fully self-drainable insulated enclosure.
This tunnel is equipped with CES’s unique hydraulic top lifting opening. In- and out-feed openings are constructed in such a way as to minimise air and moisture going into the tunnel to prevent ice and snow build-up in the tunnel and to prevent ice and snow build-up on the evaporators, which would result in a longer production time in between defrosting periods.
Evaporators are made of stainless steel tubes and pressed aluminium fins. The fin spacing depends on application and desired retention time.
Blizzard-LT’s modular design allows for future expansion and production growth, the company told WF.
CES was established in 1988. Working from a single location in Belgium, CES has grown to be a respected internationally for the design, engineering and manufacture of cryogenic and mechanical freezing and chilling equipment.
