The Marine Stewardship Council (MSC) has a new fisheries manager for the US Atlantic and Gulf of Mexico fisheries as a primary outreach for these areas.
Marin Hawk will be based in MSC’s newly opened Washington DC office and will focus on education surrounding the MSC programme, assessment process and certification requirements.
Ms Hawk was previously with the Atlantic States Marine Fisheries Commission (ASMFC) where she was fishery management plan coordinator responsible for the development and coordination of fishery management plans for six of the Commission’s species.
She has also previously worked with the South Carolina Department of Natural Resources as a fisheries data coordinator.
With the growth of the MSC programme in the Americas, MSC is moving towards having representatives available to fishery and commercial partners within more specific geographical areas.
