Star-Oddi has launched a new data logger that combines compass and tilt measurements. In addition to measuring compass and tilt in three directions, the DST Comp-Tilt also stores depth and temperature.

The DST Comp-Tilt

The compass direction is measured with reference to the earth's magnetic field, and tilt with reference to the earth's gravity. The small data logger stores the data in its internal memory and is battery powered. The DST Comp-Tilt has enhanced resolution and accuracy compared to Star-Oddi's earlier models, DST Compass and DST Pitch & Roll.

DST Comp-Tilt is operated with the communication box reader and supporting software. The user sets the start time and sampling interval for the recordings. Data is uploaded to a PC computer where measurements are shown in graph and table along with date and time.

The Compass-Tilt logger is ideal for use on ROVs, fishing gear and other underwater equipment although it is designed as a fish tag, giving new insights into the behavior and navigation of various fish species.
