IÁ Hönnun ehf is to purchase an 80% stake in 3X Technology.
IÁ Hönnun is an Icelandic company owned by Ingólfur Árnason, managing director of Skaginn hf. and Thorgeir & Ellert hf. in Akranes. 3X Technology is based in Ísafjörður.
These companies specialise in chilled processing systems and have frequently cooperated in the past. This combined operation has the capability to specialise not only in systems for shrimp, groundfish and pelagic species, but also in other food industries.
The agreement is expected to provide opportunities for streamlining marketing, purchasing and development at both locations, as there are significant pools of specialised expertise at both Akranes and Ísafjörður. Both will continue to be the mainstays of the company in seeking out opportunities and also in stabilising sales and strengthening the group as a whole.
