Tucal is delivering a containerised ice factory to Eastern Africa, supplying the local people with ice.
The ice factory includes all the equipment to produce flake and block ice (obtained with an ice compactor) and has a capacity of 10 tons per day.
The 40ft container is divided into three areas: ice production, power generation and an office.
In the central area of the container there are four ice machines (each one of them with a capacity of 2,500kg/24 hours) serviced by two independent refrigeration circuits. The ice machines are placed over an ice compactor which gives the option of flake and compacted ice.
At one side of the container there is a 100/110 kVA (80/88 kW) power generator and there is also a compressing unit to keep the storage area at a low temperature.
The other side of the container has been converted into an office for reception, administrative tasks, and also with direct access to the main electrical panel (the factory is controlled automatically).
The container with ice production, office and power generation is placed above another 40ft container prepared for storage. Both containers are connected by a ramp. The storage area is isolated with sandwich panel and the temperature is kept low thanks to the compressing unit placed in the electricity generation area, together with a forced air evaporator.
