The team behind maritime VSAT system H2OLiteSpeed has announced that the 200th installation of the system has been completed.

H2OLiteSpeed is a high speed broadband VSAT solution developed specifically for the maritime market by a consortium consisting of Europe’s leading satellite provider SES Broadband Services, maritime satellite communications partner H2OSatellite and antennae manufacturer KNS.

Following the launch of the compact Supertrack A6 earlier this year, there is a terminal to suit all vessel types and usage needs.

The latest vessel to activate the system will benefit from faster downloads of data, clearer voice calls at negligible cost, remote IT support and email.

H2OLiteSpeed has seen many vessels taking advantage of increased coverage which now extends to the Middle East, and the partners expect to see this expand rapidly in the future.

Bob Fisher of Vroon Offshore, one of the early adopters of the system said, “The system is great and voice quality excellent.”

With download speeds of up to 4Mbit/s now available H2OLiteSpeed is offering the kind of connection usually only found on dry land.

“H2OLiteSpeed turns the ship into a remote office complete with VPN links, file transfer/sharing, video conferencing as well as email, data transfer and remote support,” said Robert Kenworthy, MD of H2OSatellite. “All of the partners believe that H2OLiteSpeed has huge potential.”
