Norway-based Havfront has revolutionised the processing of fish whilst on board fishing vessels with the world''s smallest gutting and deheading machine.
The ‘Loppa’ can prepare fish weighing between 1 and 10kg and guts and deheads at the rate of one fish every three seconds.
The company has recently secured its first international contract in Greenland with the supply of two machines to Polar Raajat, part of Polar Seafood. Polar Seafood is one of the largest suppliers in the seafood industry in Greenland and this contract represents a significant breakthrough for Havfront.
Cod fishing in Greenland is growing rapidly, and fishermen must do the gutting and deheading of the fish before delivery. This makes a machine such as the ‘Loppa’ very desirable. After a successful appearance at trade show, Nor Fishing, in August last year, Havfront has sold eight machines bringing the total in use to 13 from June 2019.
The machine is designed for use on deck and is robust enough to withstand both frost and seawater. It weighs 195kg and has dimensions of 1m (length), 1.2m (height) and 0.4m (width).
