Carsoe has broken into the Chinese market with the order of a complete processing plant for a one of the world’s largest newbuild krill trawlers.

The company’s Denmark branch will deliver a complete automatic distribution, freezing and packaging line for the 115m vessel currently being built at Guangzhou Wenchong Shipyard Co Ltd for Jiangsu Sunline Deep Sea Fisheries Co Ltd.
“Companies in China manufacture freezing plants too for onshore and offshore food processing. We apparently have something they don’t have in China and I believe it’s our high quality horizontal auto freezer system,” said Mikkel Jacobsen, Carsoe.
It was the operator Jiangsu Sunline Deep Sea Fisheries Co Ltd that first approached Carsoe about the equipment and negotiations have been underway in both China and Denmark for the last two years over the deal.
“Time is a valuable source when dealing with China. We have spent it well and we are pleased to say, that we have established a sound and confident relationship with our Chinese customer,” added Mr Jacobsen.
Efficient processing
Carsoe’s automatic distribution line and freezing line will mean that the vessel will be able to freeze 100 tonnes of krill a day.
Its catch will be sorted in the automatic distribution section and either frozen in blocks or processed as Krill meat and Omega 3 oil.
The krill trawler has been designed by Wärtsilä Ship Design in Norway and is expected to start fishing in the waters of Antarctica in 2019.
