Baader will attend Seafood Processing Global (SPG) 2018 to showcase its range of processing equipment and its suitability for whitefish.

Baader 191

Baader 191 is designed to be very stable due to a new driving technology

Visitors to the show will be able to watch live demonstrations of the company’s machinery, covering receiving, stunning, gutting, heading, filleting, skinning, trimming and final inspection to sizing, grading and packaging.

One of the machines at the show will be the Baader 191 for filleting whitefish, which is suitable for onboard processing and is the successor of the Baader 190. According to the company it operates with more speed than its predecessor for higher throughput. It also has a “wider working range” so bigger fish can be processed and a “larger infeed area for easier handling of bigger fish.”

Accuracy

The company said that if a fish gets stuck in the infeed area, the processing area will still operate to maximise the amount of accurate processed fish.

Baader 191 is designed to be very stable due to a new driving technology and has a minimal amount of wear parts in consideration of the fact that the spare parts shop onboard a trawler can be very small.

The machine also offers a wide storage of recipes and allows easy access to all areas for cleaning and maintenance.

582 for filleting

Other machines on display will include the Baader 582 filleting machine, which is designed for a high yield in the high value loin area.

“The membrane in this area stays intact. Due to a new cutting process, without stickle and scraper knives, there is no stress on the fillet - no gaping. This is extremely important for soft fish,” said Baader. The black belly skin is removed precisely and the fillet needs almost no manual trimming, it added.

Also on display will be the Baader 241 skinning machine, now able to run salmon fillets head first, plus the company’s X-Ray and weighing technology, which been combined with waterjet cutting technology designed by US firm JBT and can support two Baader filleting machines.

SPG will take place in Brussels from 24-26 April.
