Following its best sales year ever, high pressure processing company Avure Technologies will expand its manufacturing capacity, bringing a new US facility online by the end of 2012.
The new production facility will be located near the company’s headquarters in Franklin, Tennessee, just outside of Nashville. It will be sized to produce a minimum of 50 HPP systems per year, with the ability to expand as market requirements increase.
The company says that the move to establish a North American manufacturing operation is a key step in building the global infrastructure to support the rapidly expanding food market for High Pressure Processing (HPP) equipment.
“The new facility will significantly expand our North American technical support capability while showcasing the investment we are making in this growing market,” says Avure’s senior vice president of global sales, Matt Rutherford. “Custom-designed manufacturing equipment and state-of-the art technologies will produce the highest product quality, at the lowest possible delivered cost per unit of throughput for the customer.”
HPP, the non-thermal food safety step that destroys pathogens through the use of ultra- high pressure (up to 6,000 bar or 87,000 psi), is being embraced across an ever-widening culinary landscape. Today hundreds of HPP enhanced products are available to satisfy consumer demand for minimally processed, natural food without added chemicals or preservatives.
According to Glenn Hewson, Avure vice president of global marketing, HPP is experiencing dramatic growth because it addresses a number of concerns for processors.
