Norwegian technology company Normex has been granted a patent for Razone, a proprietary technology developed to ensure stable and controlled water quality in recirculating aquaculture systems (RAS).
The patent confirms the novelty of the solution and marks a significant milestone in Normex’s long-term focus on advancing land-based aquaculture.
Razone is engineered for continuous commercial operation in modern RAS facilities, offering farmers improved control over critical water quality parameters. By stabilising conditions within the system, the technology helps reduce biological risk, particularly during intensive phases of juvenile fish production, where even small variations in water quality can lead to major health and performance impacts.
“Stable water quality is essential for fish health and production in RAS facilities. Razone has been developed to give farmers better control, more predictable operations and improved fish welfare,” said Stig Ove Johansen, chief executive of Normex.
By protecting the intellectual property behind Razone, Normex is better positioned to support wider adoption of advanced RAS technologies as the global aquaculture industry continues to invest in sustainable, land-based production models.
