European seafood companies will have the chance to see the new AFOS mini defroster at Seafood Processing Europe in Brussels.

The AFOS mini defroster

The AFOS mini defroster

AFOS has developed the defroster to meet demand from customers for a compact machine that will provide a rapid and consistent defrosting solution.

The mini defroster is just one cubic metre in size with a capacity of up to 25kg (for use with trays or baskets) but is fitted with all the Siemens technology and precision of the larger range of AFOS defrosters.

The new unit has been developed following demand from major retailers in North America and Europe.

Wholefoods, a major North American retailer, which uses AFOS mini kilns has been trialling the mini defroster for defrosting prawns and scallops in store, and Banzai-Sushi is also using the AFOS AT250 and T500 defrosters in its North American operations and has requested the mini defroster for its retail operations.

AFOS has also developed a micro kiln to meet demand from smaller producers and for large producers to use for product development. Developed in conjunction with the UK Seafood Institute, Irish Seafood Board and major smoked salmon producers, the micro kiln has a 12.5kg capacity.

It was recently previewed by 50 delegates in Ireland at an Irish Seafood Board seminar where it was extremely well received.
