Perkins Sabre has launched the M92B, an upgraded, new-specification version of the M92.

Based on the new Perkins 1100 Series engine, the M92B is a naturally aspirated, direct injection, four-cylinder, 4.4-litre engine that develops its maximum power at a comfortable and low stressed 2,400rpm.

The M92B provides an increase in torque capability over its predecessor. Improvements have also been made to the torque curve of the engine to give up to 12 per cent more low speed torque with torque back up, increasing to 26 per cent.

Compliance

The M92B is fully compliant with the European Tier II gaseous and particulate pollutant emissions regulations and the US Environmental Protection Agency's Stage Two regulations.

It is also capable of compliance with the EC's Recreational Craft Directive [RCD] and CCNR [Central Commission for Navigation on the Rhine] Stage One requirements.

Dimensionally, the engine is very similar to the original M92, which will ensure its suitability as a repower option for boats with either an M92 engine or the earlier Perkins M90/4.236 engine -- the biggest selling Perkins marine engine ever built. Standard transmission options are the Hurth HSW 450A, the Newage PRM 500D or the Borg Warner 72CR gearbox.

The new engine is available exclusively through the Perkins global distribution network composed of 4,000 dealers in 164 countries.
