Scantrol, a leading supplier of auto trawl and catch analysis systems for the fisheries industry, claims that its products provide financial gains to the customer.

iSYM symmetry control was installed on the Russian fishing vessel Kokshaysk in June 2005, alongside new winches with electric AC motors, supplied by Aker Brattvaag. The new winches were mounted in the same position as existing winches without any structural modifications.

For the Kokshaysk, the new equipment and auto trawl system has demonstrated an increase in catch of 20%. Simultaneously, there was an estimated reduction in fuel consumption of 10-15% and improved control of winch speed and pull, with increased safety of crew and vessel.

“This case study shows how important it is for a skipper to utilise the latest technology. The initial investment will be paid off in a very short period due to the large gains in both catch and fuel consumption,” says Anett Kallestad, Scantrol's newly appointed Marketing Manager.

Kallestad is joining Scantrol at an exciting stage when the company has several innovative products under development. Says Kallestad, “Fishing is such an integral part of Norwegian culture and Scantrol is at the forefront of innovation with a strong focus on quality. Customer feedback, such as that from Kokshaysk, illustrates that our products are a sound investment and deliver as promised”.

Scantrol will be exhibiting its flexible iSYM auto trawl system at Nor-Fishing 2006 in Trondheim later this year.
