In the early 1970’s the fishing industry was first introduced to Omni directional fishing sonars, designed to detect and track large schools of herring.
MAQ's 5° vertical beam outperforms competitors' 10° vertical beam by providing greater near-surface detection and tracking range on Tuna, according to a press release from the company which has been selling sonar gear for more than 20 years. It says it is the only omni-directional sonar available with a 5° vertical beam.
