The company’s global operations include National Fisheries Developments Ltd, a Solomon Islands subsidiary that owns and operates both pole-and-line and purse seine fishing vessels.

Renato Curto, CEO of Tri Marine Group, commented: “Tri Marine’s mission to provide sustainable, high-quality products to tuna markets around the world aligns well with IPNLF’s work in supporting one-by-one tuna fisheries. We’re proud to be their partner in efforts to support a sustainable tuna industry.”

Sustainability record

To date, Tri Marine has two Marine Stewardship Council (MSC) certifications for tuna, including one that covers the Solomon Islands pole-and-line fishery. It is also participating in the TUNACONS Fisheries Improvement Project (FIP) in the Eastern Pacific Ocean.

Martin Purves, managing director of IPNLF, stated: “Tri Marine leads by example, showing how a modern seafood business should operate with regards to its environmental and social commitments.

“The company continues to lead in the development of sustainable initiatives, while also striving to bring out the best in the broader supply chain through strong collaboration with other engaged stakeholders from across the private, public and non-profit sectors.

“IPNLF looks forward to working even closer with Tri Marine to progress the sustainable and equitable future of the one-by-one tuna sector.”
