Norway''s Teknotherm says it has a full line of Refrigerated Sea Water (RSW) and freezing plants starting at under 100kW per unit and ranging to pretty well unlimited capacity. That includes multiple chiller installations, using reciprocating and screw compressors, depending on system capacity and a customer''s requirements.
They say the bulk of their orders are for fishing vessels and that their RSW systems are also very suitable for brine-freezing, typically for tuna, as well as freezing crab and other shellfish.
They offer a range flooded RSW-chillers, and shell & tube condensers (with titanium tubing), using ammonia as refrigerant. Further, for smaller installations, modern hydrofluorocarbon (HFC) refrigerants can be offered if a customer wishes. For most orders, the equipment is pre-assembled at their factory in Halden. All machinery and components are based on a common frame, which reduces time and cuts the cost of installing on board.
It says it can offer an almost unlimited number of combinations and capacities for its on-board freezing systems, which include plate freezers, blast freezers, IQF and storage-hold installations. They all come with the most up-to-date refrigerants and control and monitoring systems, the company says, adding that their control system has been tested by long experience ensuring a stable and long life for the plant.
The company's latest introduction on the control and monitoring side is the TEKNO-TRONIC, touch-screen operation system.
It offers the operator "pictures for visualising the plant" as well as one-touch control of say a compressor or a chiller or any other piece of equipment. They say they have also simplified start-up, information, alarms, history log etc.
