Efforts such as out-planting corals to rebuild reefs and building living shorelines that protect coasts from erosion and rising sea levels will be supported

Projects selected through this funding opportunity will have a transformative impact for coastal communities and tribes across the country. They will help sustain important fisheries, make significant strides in the recovery of threatened and endangered species, and help protect coastal communities and ecosystems from the impacts of climate change.

They will also support efforts such as reconnecting rivers to their historic floodplains, out-planting corals to rebuild reefs, building living shorelines that protect coasts from erosion and sea level rise and more.

NOAA said it will accept proposals with a federal funding request of between $1 million and $25 million total over the award period. Applications are due by 17 November 2023, with more information available via the Transformational Habitat Restoration and Coastal Resilience Grants funding opportunity.
