But more efforts needed as key species continue to struggle, says European Commission

The overall sustainability of EU fisheries is continuing to improve with more fish stocks being fished at sustainable levels, according to the European Commission. But it added that with climate change also affecting fishing communities – reducing the fish stocks they depend on and leading to economic uncertainty – efforts must continue to ensure the resilience of the fisheries sector and the long-term sustainability of key species across all sea basins.
