Over the last 25 years Sunwell’s Deepchill Variable State ice Systems have delivered increased yields and doubled shelf life.
Sunwell's latest innovation is the Modular Onboard Deepchill Mini-Plant bringing reliable Deepchill slurry technology to smaller and medium sized fishing vessels.
The Deepchill Mini-Plant is a modular system consisting of standard Deepchill components which can be positioned remotely from one another and easily linked. The Mini-Plant is based on Sunwell's Unique Deepchill Variable State Ice Technology offering dual functionality. It provides rapid chilling of warm fish using liquid Deepchill Slurry and packing using thick Deepchill paste rapidly pumped into boxes or totes full of fish, immersing the fish in soft Deepchill. The Deepchill Mini Plant includes a small powerful modular Deepchill Generator (WxLxH: 0.46x1.14x1.73m) which can generate up to 13,800 Kg of Deepchill Slurry per 24 hours. The Mini-Plant includes a 4000 Kg/hour delivery system and a 1,500 Kg storage tank making it possible to instantly cool large bags of fish. The Deepchill Mini-Plant's efficient design makes it affordable for even small fishing vessels.
Sunwell recently sold its modular Deepchill System to Irvin & Johnson, South Africa's leading fishing company. The Deepchill System will be installed on I&J's newest vessel the Flame Thorn. Liquid Deepchill will rapidly chill large volumes of hake in the receiving ponds reducing the temperature at 1 C per minute. While thick Deepchill can be used to pack the hake in I&J's specially designed fish totes. Sunwell worked closely with I&J to both incorporate the Deepchill Modular System into their vessel and to develop a complete Deepchill preservation solution that will guarantee the quality of the landed hake while reducing I&J's operating costs.
