
Dr. Hart received his Ph.D. in 2006 from Purdue University with an emphasis on aquaculture nutrition. After completing his degree, he worked for the Indiana Soybean Alliance as their Director of Aquaculture, and in 2011, was named the Executive Director of the Soy Aquaculture Alliance where he worked closely with allied groups to coordinate aquaculture research and development in a strategic approach.
Dr. Hart joined GAA in 2015 as Vice President. His primary responsibility is directing GAA activities within Asia, focused on growing market acceptance of the Best Aquaculture Practices (BAP) sustainability certification program. He also is leading efforts focused on updating and improving animal welfare protocols, food safety outreach, investigating emerging issues affecting aquaculture stakeholders, working with GAA constituents to respond to emerging issues, expanding activities with other related groups, and generating content for GAA’s communications vehicles. In early 2018, Dr. Hart was named to the board of directors of the Seafood Nutrition Partnership, an organization with a mission to increase seafood consumption in America.
