Solstrand AS has won a contract with Olympic Prawns in Fosnavåg, Norway, to build a multi-functional stern trawler.
The trawler, designed by Skipsteknisk AS, is type ST-118. The total length is 73.8m and the beam is 16m.
The company says that the design will set a new standard for environment and safety. The ship will be built with double skin according to new IMO rules as the first trawler in the world. There will be a focus on low energy consumption and thereby low CO2 and NOx emissions. A selective Catalist Reduction (SCR) plant will be installed to reduce the NOx level up to 95%
The trawler will be delivered in 2010.
