Skaginn 3X will design a new automated Vardin Pelagic plant, which allows for initial capacity of 1300t per day.
The factory in Suduroy, Faroe Islands, replaces the Faroese company’s previous plant designed by Skaginn 3X in 2012, which burned down in June 2017. The new site has potential for expanding capacity to 1700t per day.
“This is the largest contract that Skaginn 3X has made and as far as I know the largest seafood
contract made by an Icelandic technology company,” said Ingólfur Árnason, CEO of Skaginn
3X.
He added: “It’s a valuable acknowledgment for the great team at Skaginn 3X that Vardin
Pelagic has chosen our solution the second time and proves that our system is both innovative
and reliable.”
The factory uses Skaginn 3X’s freezing technology to enable automation and has a strong focus on being environmentally friendly, efficient and producing quality products.
“It was our duty to look carefully into all options available and also listen to our customers and the Icelandic technique, provided by Skaginn 3X, was clearly the best option for us,” commented Bogi Jacobsen, CEO of Vardin Pelagic.
Last year, Skaginn 3X installed the Eskja pelagic plant and provided a catch handling system for France Pélagique’s pelagic trawler.
