Acme Smoked Fish Foundation is running its Seafood Industry Climate Awards for a second year in a row.
Three recipients will each receive a US$70,000 grant – up from US$40,000 per grant last year – to support projects that reduce carbon emissions and increase diversity within the seafood industry.

The awards programme is being supported by sponsor, TD Bank, and sustainability investor, Builders Initiative.
“We are thrilled to build upon our first year of the SICA awards and to welcome Builders Initiative to support ground-breaking work focused on mitigating climate change and increasing the representation of diverse members of the industry,” said Rob Snyder of Acme Smoked Fish.
“We believe that if innovators have increased attention, and access to resources, they can better position the seafood industry to be a leader in the climate movement.”
Last year winners were Luke’s Lobster’s Lift All Boats project, Mi’kmaq Nation’s solar powered RAS hatchery and Alaska Longline Fishermen’s Association Boat Energy Transition Accelerator fuel initiative.
Applicants in North American have until 2 November to apply and a new cycle for Chilean recipients opens next week.
