Norway achieved a milestone in November with seafood exports totaling NOK 17.3 billion, marking a 6% increase compared to the same month last year.

This record-breaking month was driven by significant price growth across key species, including salmon, mackerel, cod, haddock and herring. The November figures highlight the continued global demand for premium Norwegian seafood, with salmon remaining the top export product.
“November has been exceptional for Norwegian seafood exports,” said Christian Chramer, CEO of the Norwegian Seafood Council.
“Price increases across our most important species reflect the strong position of Norwegian seafood in international markets. Despite challenging economic conditions globally, the demand for high-quality, sustainably sourced seafood remains robust.”
Higher market prices
Salmon exports reached new heights in value, driven by higher market prices, while mackerel and herring also showed strong performance due to growing demand in Asia.
Cod and haddock exports benefited from both increased volumes and improved pricing, underlining the importance of Norway’s fisheries to the global food supply chain.
This growth underscores Norway’s leadership in sustainable seafood production, which remains a cornerstone of its success.
Chramer added: “As we close in on the year-end, the record-breaking results reflect the hard work of everyone in the seafood industry, from fishers to exporters. We’re proud to see Norwegian seafood thriving on the world stage.”
Norway’s seafood export achievements in November reaffirm its position as a global leader in sustainable, high-value seafood production.
