Judges decided that Loch Duart smoked salmon, which is available in two varieties: ’Signature Smoke’ and ‘Double Smoked’, was the best tasting and best presented. It won the award, sponsored by Seafood Scotland, against three other smoked salmon products.

Mark Warrington, Managing Director of Loch Duart Salmon, thanked Scotland Food & Drink and the judges for choosing Loch Duart smoked salmon.

“We are very proud of our new smoked salmon range, which was launched earlier this year and is already a favourite with top chefs and restaurants around the world. At Loch Duart we have always strived to raise the very best, premium, heritage breed Scottish salmon and we took particular care in creating a smoked product which highlighted the natural eating qualities of our fish that people already loved,” he said.

Loch Duart produces 9,000 tonnes of salmon each year, from farms in Sutherland, the Outer Hebrides and Skye. The company employs around 180 people in the Western Isles, Sutherland and Ross & Cromarty.
