Following screening success throughout the UK and Europe, Seafish will be making its ‘The Business of Fishing’ film available to schools, higher education institutes and other stakeholder groups.

The film explores the challenges and opportunities faced by fishing vessel owners, including investment and finance, business risks and challenges, and quotas. The film was produced by Seafish to help industry groups and policy makers understand the different business aspects of the fishing industry.
Original screenings were held in London, Edinburgh, Aberdeen, Shetland and Brussels, an additional 20 screenings have been delivered or scheduled to take place over the coming months. The film will also be made available via screenings and YouTube to schools and higher education institutes across the UK.
Hazel Curtis, Chief Economist at Seafish, said: “The ‘Business of Fishing’ has proved hugely successful to date, with a positive response from environmental groups, fishing industry and government from across the UK and Europe.
“It’s important that we are able to show the film to a wide audience to ensure that we achieve our aim of helping industry, environmental groups and policy makers collaborate effectively and be more likely to identify and deliver solutions that work from a business point of view, as well as protecting our natural environment and fish stocks.”
