The first Scottish Skipper Expo will take place on 24 & 25 June at the AECC (Aberdeen Exhibition & Conference Centre) - a new fishing exhibition for the Scottish fishing and processing industry.
Bertie Amstrong, chief executive of the Scottish Fishermen’s Federation has invited Cabinet Secretary for Rural Affairs and Fisheries, Richard Lochhead to visit the show on Saturday afternoon, where he will be doing a walk through, meeting exhibitors and fishermen and engaging with the industry.
The aim of this new exhibition is to offer the opportunity for all businesses, small and large to exhibit and promote their products and services direct to the industry, as well as providing fishermen with access to market leaders in the manufacture and supply of equipment for the fleet. Over 100 companies will exhibit, catering for all sectors of the industry, and 10 inshore vessels will be on display over the two day event.
One of the vessels on display in the boatmart will be a Cleopatra 42 built at Trefjar in Iceland. The vessel is called the Dalwhinnie and was built for Ian Mathieson who said, “Some fishermen might feel it’s a bit daunting to go to Iceland for a vessel, but this is the second vessel I bought from Trefjar, they are extremely easy to deal with and their professionalism and quality of their work is second to none.”
Hogni Bergthorsson from Trefjar Ltd who is attending the Scottish Skipper Expo with the Dalwhinnie said, “We look forward to meeting current Cleopatra owners and hope to meet with new customers as well. We are also looking for new distributors in the UK and Ireland.”
