Steve Bracken, business support manager at Marine Harvest Scotland has retired after 41 years’ service to Scottish salmon farming.
Beginning his career as fish farm assistant at Locheailort on 23 May 1977, Bracken is the longest serving employee at Marine Harvest. He held varying management positions during his four decades of service, including a three-year posting in Sri Lanka. In 2000, he moved to his current communications role, where he has engaged with media, governments, customers, local communities and NGOs.
Ben Hadfield, managing director at Marine Harvest Scotland, said: “I want to personally thank Steve for his enormous contribution to Marine Harvest and for everything he’s done for the Scottish salmon farming sector. We wish you the best in retirement.”
At Bracken’s 40-year service celebration, one colleague paid tribute to “one of the greatest ambassadors for the aquaculture sector.”
Ian Roberts, formerly director of public relations for Marine Harvest Canada, has taken on the role of communications and business development director, Scotland. A UK citizen, Roberts began this new role in May and is based near Fort William, Scotland. Jeremy Dunn has taken up Roberts’ former position.
