Swan Net Gundry (SNG) are delighted to have been honoured with the Marine Industry Supplier of the Year award at the recent Seafest gathering in Galway sponsored by BIM.

SNG were also shortlisted for the overall Marine Excellence Award. Managing director Evelyn Kierans accepted the award on behalf of the Swan Net Gundry team from Dr. Dave Jackson, Inspector of Fisheries and Manager of the Aquaculture Section in the Marine Institute.
“We are delighted to accept the award in recognition of our service to the marine sector in Ireland and beyond,” Evelyn Kierans said. “This award is testament to the dedication commitment and drive of our talented workforce throughout all of our depots.”
SNG has invested in additional skilled staff to meet the increased demand for safety equipment, providing support to fishermen in applying for the BIM safety grant, advising on the specific requirements of each vessel type and assisting with licensing issues, MMSI applications and transfer of ownership details.
In May this year work began on the construction of a new retail outlet adjacent to the existing premises. A larger improved service area for lifejackets along with the additional trained staff will allow for more service capacity and an efficient turnaround of serviced lifejackets.
Servicing of all Mullion lifejackets is available at the approved service stations in Killybegs and Castletownbere depots, with the Dept. of the Marine approved life-raft service station in Castletownbere working to full capacity. SNG are distributors and service agents for the BIM lifejackets with integrated PLB and assist fishermen in completing the relevant paperwork required to obtain these jackets. A standalone buoyant PLB with a simple two-step activation process is also in stock.
Servicing and testing of EPIRBs and PLBs is available in Killybegs with unprecedented demand for these rescue beacons in the past six months. The new requirement for GPS float-free EPIRB’s for all vessels under 15m put pressure on beacon manufacturers in recent months to keep up with the demand.
