Technicians at the Severnaya (Northern) shipyard in St Petersburg have installed the main engine on board Kapitan Geller, one of the series of new trawlers being built for Norebo.

Commissioning Kapitan Geller’s engine will take place once the trawler has been launched for the later phases of outfitting, while the yard is currently also at work on the hull and superstructure.

The hull forms of subsequent trawlers in the series, Kapitan Ostashkov and Kapitan Breichman, are complete, and block sections of Kapitan Tuzov and Kapitan Abakumov are in preparation.

The lead trawler in the series, Kapitan Sokolov, was launched in August and its wheelhouse is being fabricated ready for installation, while insulation and outfitting of the accommodation and technical areas is in progress, and the fishmeal plant is being fitted.

The series of new trawlers includes vessels being built to fish primarily on groundfish in northern waters, and others which will operate on pollock and herring in the Far East.
