Icelandic tech provider Skaginn 3X has taken a new approach to promoting what the company has to offer, with an advertising campaign that moves away from brushed steel and glinting machinery to a string of adverts that include a series of quirky facts.
“We wanted to create a campaign that our customers could relate to and enjoy,” said the company’s marketing manager Bylgja Pálsdóttir.
“Yes, our clients are primarily companies, but we wanted to connect with the people behind those companies. During these Covid-stricken times we all need some light-hearted humour and this campaign offers just that.”
Skaginn 3X has a long background in designing and producing innovative chilling and freezing systems for the food processing industry, and has styled its campaign to take a business-to-customer approach instead of the usual B2B format – turning to one of its in-house experts to front the new campaign.
“This is Sigurður Skúlason, or Siggi the Polar Bear, as he’s referred to by many of Skaginn 3X’s customers,” Bylgja Pálsdóttir said.
“Siggi has been selling Skaginn 3X freezers for close to 25 years and is well known in the industry. This makes him the perfect candidate to front this campaign.”
The Cold Facts campaign consists of a series of short videos, the first of which shows Siggi’s day-to-day life and glimpses of his daily routine as a freezing expert, as he wakes up in his ice cave, goes for an ice cream drive in freezing weather and turns his hand to ice sculpting, and the ad series as a whole is interspersed with some facts about Iceland, all delivered with Siggi the Polar Bear’s laconic coolness.
