Over the past two decades, Sims has spearheaded teams that have accomplished breakthroughs in pearl oyster culture, marine fish hatchery technology and open ocean mariculture systems.
Neil is an experienced marine biologist and has been based in Kona since 1990, first working in pearl oyster hatchery development and pearl farming throughout Hawaii, the South Pacific and South East Asia.

Neil is also founding President of the Ocean Stewards Institute – the open ocean aquaculture trade association - and sits on the Steering Committee for the Seriola-Cobia Aquaculture Dialogue (SCAD).
Neil will be speaking during the first session of the conference, his presentation will cover ‘Offshore Aquaculture in the Americas – Less Jules Verne, More Warren Buffet?’. Neil suggests that the future of mariculture could lie in less emphasis on innovative breakthroughs, and more adaptation of existing, proven technologies, and incremental expansion to more exposed waters, further offshore.
The conference will provide an excellent platform for decision makers in the Mariculture community, including fish farmers, investors and technology providers, to learn about and discuss the latest in Mariculture innovation, as well as plenty of opportunities for networking.
Book your delegate place now to attend this unique conference that attracts high level, international delegates, including investors, members of fisheries ministries and global leaders in aquaculture production.
