As big as a two-room flat. This is the size of the most recent VIKING liferaft now being marketed. It is the largest-capacity liferaft ever sold: a 150 person automatically self-righting liferaft, type throw-overboard.

The liferaft has been approved to the latest international standards and requirements as set out in the European Council Directive 96/98/EC on Marine Equipment. The size of the liferaft represents the absolute limit so far prescribed by the authorities in terms of liferaft capacities.

Areas of application

The large-capacity liferafts are available in an open, reversible version, too. They are meant for installation on board passenger ferries. They have already been fitted on a couple of vessels, one of them being m/v Frisia IV built by Cassens Werft, Emden, for Reederei Norden, Wattenmeer. The vessel takes 1500 passengers and has had 14 liferafts fitted thus ensuring an extra capacity since they total 125%.

Direct boarding

The liferafts are equipped with remote release. Applicable as direct boarding from ship, they ensure dry-shod evacuation directly from deck into the liferaft.
