The new premises of Kalatukku E. Eriksson Ltd. have now been completed.
The production plant is located close to Helsinki city centre and was built according to the latest EU regulations and food legislation.
The plant was designed, above all, for the filleting, extended processing and quick-freezing of salmon and salmonoids, but the company also has a selection of over 1,000 different seafood products that it either manufactures itself or has manufactured by partners. The company imports fresh and frozen products from Belgium, Holland, Sweden, Norway and Iceland on a weekly basis.
The new plant is 4,000m2, of which 3,300m2 is for production. There is a separate production line for salmon filleting and space in the plant's own freezer for over 800 frames of frozen products.
The processing and quick-freezing of fresh fish began in the spring of 2007 and the extended processing and catering departments opened in March this year. The final budget of the new plant was approximately €7m.
In its extended processing, Kalatukku E. Eriksson specialises in the production of unique and more 'valuable' products, such as hand made convenience foods, sushi and shellfish.
