Hawker Traction has launched the latest generation of its smart mult-function high-frequency (HF) charges for industrial truck batteries.

Employing advanced ergonomics the new charges, in Hawker's LifePlus and Powertech ranges, are extremely user-friendly in operation, and the use of new materials and a modular design enables streamlined assembly of differently-rated variants and facilitates simpler servicing. The new chargers are designed to interface with Hawker's latest battery condition monitoring and diagnostic systems, which enable the more cost-effective management of battery fleets.
Design rationalising now means the only 18 HF charges are needed to accommodate every kind of industrial truck buttery on the market. The new charges are also very compact and lightweight (70 per cent smaller and 50 per cent lighter than conventional 50 Hz charges) for easy wall mounting to achieve significant space-saving in battery charging rooms.
Hawker's LifePlus and Powertech HF charges offer very good energy efficiency, as much as 20 per cent higher than 50 Hz charges. The charges automatically detect the battery's level of discharge and will supply only the amount of power needed to restore full charge. This means less main power is required to charge a battery and the energy costs per charge are considerably reduced, leading to significant savings in electricity costs --as much as 30 per cent when the HF charges are used with Hawker's sealed gel Evolution battery.
Hawker's new HF charges are very versatile. Both LifePlus and Powertech ranges will automatically accommodate batteries of different capacities, and are easily programmable for all battery technologies. LifePlus models will also operate with various battery voltages, offering an ideal solution for users with mixed truck fleets. Powertech models are available in single-and three-phase versions.
The new charges have been designed to interface with Hawker's battery-mounted condition monitoring and diagnostic systems, which provide the user with a wealth of battery management data enabling more cost-effective use, and proper rotation of fleet batteries. The data, which includes detailed analysis of up to 100 cycles, can be downloaded via a modem and comprehensive battery fleet management can be achieved by networking to an on-site PC and display screen.
