The National Fish & Chip Awards, organised by Seafish, will be taking place at the Lancaster London Hotel on Thursday 24 January 2013, hosted by comedian and impressionist Rory Bremner.

The awards champion the diverse talents and skills in the UK foodservice and fish frying trade and showcase the high standards within the industry through a series of hotly contested award categories.

The awards are set to be extra special this year as they celebrate their 25th anniversary year, ensuring fierce competition for each of the 16 titles.

Up and down the country shortlisted nominees have been announced in a range of special award categories and as the process draws to a close, it is the last race to the final for the top ten regional finalists for the main award: Independent Takeaway Fish and Chip Shop of the Year Award, to find out which fish and chip shop really is the best in Britain for 2013.

The regional finalists hoping to take home the crown are:

  • The Bay - Stonehaven, Aberdeenshire
  • The Crispy Cod - Porth, Mid Glamorgan
  • Pit Stop Fast Food & Bistro – Kilkeel, County Down
  • Simpsons Fish & Chips – Cheltenham, Gloucestershire
  • Wigmore Fish Restaurant – Luton, Bedfordshire
  • Burton Road Chippy – Lincoln, Lincolnshire
  • Richardsons Fish Bar – Fleetwood, Lancashire
  • Henleys of Wivenhoe – Colchester, Essex
  • The Quayside – Whitby, North Yorkshire
  • Hanbury’s – Babbacombe, Devon

These awards recognise emerging talent and reward the contribution that many fish and chip businesses have made in their respective local communities and what they contribute to the wider UK seafood industry.

For the first time, there will also be an Outstanding Achievement Award for an industry individual who has shown significant contribution to the industry, voted for by a number of respected industry representatives.
