Mozambique has attempted improve domestic supply of fish to meet a part of alimentary deficit of the country and improve the standard of life of coastal communities in its fishing policy. Pilar Santamaria investigates - Placed in the South East of Africa, Mozambique has the third longest coastline in the continent with 2,780 km and an Exclusive Economic Zone of 562,000 square km. Fishing is one of the most important sectors for Mozambican economy and most of its resources are currently under exploited.
