Marin Teknikk has signed an agreement with Østerfjord, Torangsvaag in Austevoll and Tersan Shipyard in Turkey for the design and engineering for a new fishing vessel.
The MT1115 will be 67m long and 14.6m wide, making it the world's largest of its kind and will primarily be used for longline and Danish seine fishing in Nordic waters.
Marin Teknikk's sales director, Richard Gjerde, said, “We have worked closely with Olav Østervold & the family since late 2017 and feel that this is an acknowledgement of our work to design safe, functional, environmentally friendly and cost-effective fishing vessels that are specially adapted to the needs for the high skilled fishing company."
The vessel will have an energy-saving hybrid propulsion system with battery package and accommodation for 23 crew. The bespoke design includes a large autoline system with a capacity of approximately 76,000 hooks, complete Danish seine arrangement and automatic fillet and HG processing factory plant.
Østerfjord has entered into a contract with Tersan Shipyard for the construction of the vessel, the sixth of Marin Teknikk design to be built at the shipyard. Delivery is scheduled for the second quarter of 2021.
