Flake ice machines from German manufacturer MAJA are in daily use in the fish business all over the world.
The company says that after the catch and during transport and storage, fish and seafood stay fresh, clean and appetising in a bed of dry-frozen flake ice. But for a 'normal' ice machine, the rough conditions at sea can become problematic.
For this reason, MAJA has designed a special off-shore line of rotating evaporators made for seagoing use in the fishing industry. They offer ideal conditions for trouble-free use onboard fish trawlers at sea, where the quality of the catch depends very much on the availability of ice for assuring continuous refrigeration.
The MAJA off-shore line 'RVE 2S' includes three models with daily capacities between 750 and 2,900kg. They are available either for seawater or freshwater freezing and can be integrated into the trawler’s multicompressor refrigeration system.
To avoid damage caused by sea salt, the machine parts are made of a high-quality non-corroding material.
The water tank is equipped with a special slop-over protection for operation in rough seas.
The offshore ice makers are also equipped with a robust electromechanic control unit for ensuring permanent operational reliability and easy maintenance – an important aspect if the trawler is at sea for weeks and is far from port.
