The organisers of Aqua Nor 2013 believe that this year’s event will be the largest show ever.
This year, 20% more exhibition space has been sold than any time before, and the international interest in Aqua Nor has never been greater.
The organisers attribute this to the fact that the aquaculture industry is doing very well at present, especially the salmon farming industry. Prices are high, and demand for salmon is growing everywhere – and during good times fish farming companies are open for innovation and new investments.
In addition, they say that many emerging industries want to learn from Norway with regards to its aquaculture technology.
The Marine Research Institute has been involved in a number of development projects in tropical regions using Norwegian technology to raise species such as tilapia, cobia, barramundi and pompano. The Nor-Fishing Foundation and MRI now want to bring these experiences to the world, which they plan to do through a mini-seminar during the exhibition.
This year the European Aquaculture Society (EAS) will also hold its annual conference ‘Aquaculture Europe’ in Trondheim just before Aqua Nor opens its doors, from 9-12 August.
Aqua Nor takes place 13-16 August 2013 at the Trondheim Spektrum in Norway.
