Cermaq has confirmed that the ISA virus has been detected at its Langøyhovden sea site in Nordland, Norway.

The virus was detected in two pens by Real Time PCR screening, as part of regular testing under Cermaq’s preventative health strategy. The company says that mortality at the site is low and there are no clinical signs of outbreak.

The 173,000 fish in the fish in the two affected pens will be culled to prevent spread of infection to the remaining fish at the site. The company says that the culling of these fish is expected to have only limited financial impact.

The control of the fish at the site will continue harvesting, which will be carried out in agreement with the Food Authority, which has been informed.
