Both Icelandic and international companies were rewarded for their part in the development of the global fishing industry, at the Icelandic Fisheries Awards 2002, held in Reykjavik last month.
Icelandic company Marel scooped two awards for best product and overall outstanding supplier.
Its pin-bone removal concept was recognised by judges and industry representatives as one of the most innovative products to be developed in the last few years.

All winners and finalists played their part in the chain that sees fish go from sea to the plate and all have contributed towards making fish a valuable commodity.
Other award winners included Norwegian company Scanmar and the UK's Nesco Weighing.
Icelandic winners included Skaginn, Samherji and UA.
Editor of World Fishing, Adrian Tatum said: "It is very hard to define what a winner is but very easy to realise why they have won. The achievements of both Icelandic and international companies in the past few years have been truly outstanding. Many countries have suffered the perils of quota cuts yet they still continue to be innovative and creative."
