Ibercisa will be participating at the Icelandic Fisheries Exhibition from the 22-24 September in Iceland.

The Vigo based company, will be sharing stand number P69 with Naust Marine, Ibercisa’s agent in Iceland for over 20 years.

Iceland is one of Ibercisa’s most important markets and the company has traded with the Nordic country since its inception over 40 years ago. Co-operation with Naust Marine, has enabled the firm to sign important contracts with some of the largest Norwegian companies. In fact, Ibercisa, has supplied more than 40 pairs of electrically driven main trawl winches for Icelandic ships to a value of over €10m.

At the 2011 Show, Ibercisa will continue to emphasise the advantages of electrically driven fishing equipments, definitely one of the big technological advances in this field. The system will greatly affect the vessel’s efficiency and running costs by reducing fuel costs.

The electrical drive on the machines reduces, not only the space needed for installation of the main operation system, but it is also lighter in weight and more efficient giving improved performance on automatic trawl winches. However, these are not the only reasons for favouring an electrically driven system - Ibercisa also notes the following advantages:

  • Lower installation costs as the machine is free of tubes.
  • Lower energy consumption, maintenance and noise levels, thereby improving security and operator well being.
  • Winch ignition through the alternating current includes a frequency converter, an alternating current motor (AC), a frequency converter on the winch, a refrigeration system for two motors and an energy regeneration system.
  • Higher efficiency on the machine (input/output power) and energy regeneration during the free pay out improve vessel’s energy consumption quota.
  • The efficiency of electric ignition is around 85%-90% as opposed to hydraulic system efficiency that may vary from 50% to 70%.
  • Provides better control than hydraulic starting systems with a variable speed control of 2% to 100% of maximum rpm and the whole torque on any rpm level.

Today, Ibercisa, enjoys a wide client portfolio as a strong international competitor, with presence in Iceland, Russia, India, Mauritania, Brazil, Taiwan, China, Singapore, Australia and New Zealand.

In recent years the company has undergone sustained growth and is presently working on a project to expand facilities at the factory in Vigo.
