Maritime Partner has entered into a contract with Norwegian Rig Shuttle, for the delivery of a large high-speed supervision vessel to be operated by the Norwegian Directorate of Fisheries (NDF).

The 20m vessel is a new Alusafe 2000 Multi-Purpose Vessel (MPV) design tailormade for NDF. It will be ready for delivery in December 2017 and will replace two vessels currently operated by NDF.
“Because of the current vessels vulnerability to harsh weather conditions, we have had a desire for a more robust alternative. Now we finally have the chance to acquire the right tool for the job,” said Rolf Harald Jensen, section chief of the NDF North region.
The vessel will be fitted with a Seabear 20 workboat from Maritime Partner at the stern. It will have overnight capacity for a crew of five and will have fully equipped facilities including night vision cameras, a crane and de-icing systems.
Mr Jensen said that the vessel will operate an area spanning from the Oslo Fjord to the Varanger Fjord, with multiple areas commonly experiencing harsh weather conditions.
The vessel from Maritime Partner and Norwegian Rig Shuttle will be able to handle both weather and wind conditions along the entire Norwegian coastline and be operational under the same conditions as the coastal fishing fleet operates.
This ensures less weather dependency for NDF’s operations and provides higher operability for its fishery inspection.
During the summer months the vessel will be operating in the southern parts of Norway.
Norwegian Rig Shuttle delivers maritime services for maintenance operations, towing, personnel and goods transportations and additional services.
This vessel will be the first from Maritime Partner in its fleet.
