Significant improvements in real world aquaculture technology will take centre stage at the Aquaculture – Driving Sustainable Growth Conference on the opening day of IceFish 2026.

Among the speakers at the must-attend Icelandic gathering, 22-24 September, is Jan Eric Haagensen, Senior Director of Scandinavia, Moleaer Bio.
Jan Eric brings over 25 years of experience at the intersection of aquaculture operations and technology adoption across Scandinavia, working directly with fish farmers, well-boat operators, and equipment providers to solve critical challenges in oxygenation, fish welfare, and production efficiency.
Announcing his participation he said: “I’m looking forward to discussing how Moleaer’s data‑backed nanobubble oxygenation technology is helping operators improve dissolved oxygen control, reduce energy use, and support higher welfare standards across aquaculture operations.”
Maintaining optimal dissolved oxygen levels during well-boat transportation has emerged as one of the most critical welfare challenges, where compromised water quality can lead to significant stress and mortality.
Jan Eric’s presentation will examine the deployment of Moleaer nanobubble technology, the world’s most installed nanobubble solution, aboard a vessel operated by Rostein, one of the largest well-boat companies. In 2024, eight nanobubble generators were integrated into a vessel with 4,500 m³ tank capacity. The results were transformative: nanobubble system achieved 86% oxygen transfer efficiency compared to just 41% for venturi injectors, effectively doubling performance.
The technology’s key advantages – no moving parts, low maintenance, inline and submersible options, compatibility with saltwater and freshwater, and seamless integration – make it practical for broad deployment, and has seen industry leaders including Mowi, SalMar, Salmon Evolution, AquaFarm Equipment and Gigante Salmon chose Moleaer as their gas injection solution provider.
The 15th edition of IceFish will combine a dedicated one-day Aquaculture – Driving Sustainable Growth Conference on 22 November with 1.5 days of 100% Fish for Profit, offering delegates a concentrated view of the trends, technologies and opportunities shaping the future of the sector.
